Fleming,

of licenced pesticide applicators in Florida. Occupational and
Environmental Medicine 56:14-21.
Fleming
et al. examine health records for pesticide applicators licensed
in the state of Florida during the 1975-1993. They compare them
with the health of the general population, and then examine more
closely two types of pesticide applicators: farmers and commercial
applicators.
They
find that in general, pesticide applicators are healthier than the
general population, particularly with respect to deaths from exposure
to alcohol and to tobacco. Farmers (but not commercial applicators)
however, were significantly more likely to die from prostate cancer
than males in the general population.
